Dysport
ABOUT
What is Dysport?
DYSPORT® is an FDA-approved injectable neuromodulator used to temporarily relax the muscles in the forehead that cause wrinkles. It contains a small dose of botulinum toxins and, in many ways, works like BOTOX®.
A skilled provider will closely inject Dysport® into the selected areas of the face. Neurotoxin is injected via a very fine needle into specific facial muscles, relaxing the nerves around the injection site, limiting muscle contraction and movement. With the muscles relaxed, the surface of the surrounding skin looks smooth. Most people find that Dysport® injections are painless other than the initial mild needle prick. There is no downtime, and only a few temporary restrictions after your treatment. In most patients, the effects of Dysport will be seen in about three days and last 3-4 months, which is longer than Botox.
How does Dysport work?
One injection. Five points.
- Dysport temporarily treats moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows by reducing specific muscle activity.
- Wrinkles are caused by repeated movements and muscle contractions.7 One injection into each of the 5 points between and above the eyebrows temporarily prevents muscle contractions that cause frown lines.
- In other words: natural-looking results that look and feel like you.
What to Expect
1
You will first meet with one of our certified and experienced providers in administration of neurotoxins to go over treatment goals. Appointment times are 30min, but return patients usually only take about 15 minutes.
2
The area to be treated will be prepped with alcohol and you will feel a few tiny needle pricks. Post care instructions and expected outcomes are reviewed at the conclusion of the visit and a follow up visit is scheduled for two weeks to assess if more neurotoxin is needed.
3
There is no “downtime” other than some mild injection site swelling that returns to normal in less than 30 min. Occasionally, there is some mild bruising. Most are able to return to normal activities right away, with the exception of a few restrictions and recommendations.
